Reflections on the future of the pet industry

Hi Reader,

Global Pet Expo wrapped up 6-weeks ago. It's like we blinked, and 6-weeks had gone by. Heck, we're still in follow-up mode and reflection mode.

Beyond what new and innovative products we saw - and awarded several a BlogPaws Best Award - there are some apparent shifts happening in the industry. Or, like Chloe shares in her blog post: "...this year felt like the pet industry is sitting between eras."

It's sitting between traditional ways and transformative movement.

This showed up over and over in conversation after conversation.

Highlights of our show floor conversations are:

More creators (yea, influencers) on the show floor, and more questions asked about their presence.
A push and pull happening between legacy brands and emerging brands.
Gen Z is leading pet ownership growth - and how products are found and researched. (eh hem, UGC content - which we'll be sharing more about on the blog in the coming weeks.)
Transparency in marketing is no longer an option; it's a requirement.
AI could be helping the industry way more than it's currently being utilized.

"Legacy brands may be feeling the strain. Small and newer brands are navigating noise. Creators are redefining collaboration and their place in the industry. And pet parents, well, they are evolving faster than most companies can keep up."
